Mr. Masoud is an accomplished Software Engineer with more than 15 years of professional experience across multiple sectors, including significant contributions in the EduTech landscape. He has worked on both national and international projects, collaborating with leading organizations such as USAID, Jifunze Uelewe and the World Bank.
Masoud currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and IT at The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), where he also works as a Geospatial Software Engineer.
He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Applications from the Vellore Institute of Technology (India), specializing in Big Data and Deep Learning. His extensive technical and leadership experience includes major roles in high-impact initiatives such as ZanMalipo, the Resilience Academy, and GeoICT4e. As a Software Developer and Team Leader, Masoud has led teams and delivered solutions supported by the World Bank, the Finnish Government, USAID and various Tanzanian Government agencies.
Beyond his professional achievements, Masoud is deeply committed to building the next generation of tech talent. He serves as a mentor for SUZA App & FOSS communities, the Digital Earth Africa Club and supports young developers and AI enthusiasts in advancing their skills. Masoud is also an active contributor to the global Django community, a member of the Django Software Foundation and the organizer of DjangoCon Zanzibar 2023.
